Tatiana Gilliam
Tatiana is the founder of Pathways Academy and an international education consultant who works directly with homeschool, expat and college-bound students. She helps families connect high-school planning, online learning, university admissions and the practical steps involved in studying across countries.
Areas of work
- Individualized high-school education plans
- U.S., European and UK university guidance
- College research and application planning
- Career and academic pathway planning
- Homeschool, expat and mobile-family support
- Housing, visa-process and student-move planning
Education guidance grounded in lived experience
Tatiana’s work began at home. For more than a decade, she educated her own children and adapted curriculum, structure and learning experiences around their individual needs. As the children grew older, that work expanded into high-school course planning, university preparation and navigating education while living and traveling internationally.
Through Pathways Academy, Tatiana has developed individualized high-school plans, advised families on curriculum, helped students research universities and supported them through application requirements, deadlines and decisions. Students she has guided have been accepted to universities across Europe. Her work is especially useful for families trying to connect an American academic record with universities in Europe or the UK.
Now based in Lisbon, she also understands the practical side of an international move. Pathways can remain involved after acceptance by helping families research housing, understand the official visa process, organize enrollment steps and prepare for the student’s arrival.

Experience that shapes the Pathways approach
Founded an education practice serving students and families through individualized planning, one-on-one coaching, online resources and international college guidance. Tatiana has also built and moderated several education communities that, together, have grown to more than 10,000 members.
Founded and coached a Science Olympiad team, organizing preparation and mentoring students through state-level competition and multiple medals.
More than a decade of direct experience selecting curriculum, adapting instruction, integrating travel and preparing students for university pathways.
Earlier work as an emergency-department nurse and clinic lead developed the calm organization, advocacy and follow-through needed to guide families through complicated systems.
Why families work directly with Tatiana
There is no institutional handoff. Tatiana learns the student’s history, strengths, interests, academic record and family constraints, then keeps that context as the plan develops. Families can begin with one focused question or continue through course selection, university applications and an international move.
A practical, individual process
- Listen to the student and family first
- Research current program requirements
- Connect courses, universities and career direction
- Organize deadlines and next steps
- Adjust the plan when circumstances change
A small practice means the relationship matters.
Pathways is intentionally personal. Families work with someone who knows the student’s history, goals and circumstances rather than starting over each time the question changes.
