How U.S. Students Apply to Dutch Universities
The Netherlands offers many English-taught programs, but the institution makes the final decision on qualification recognition.
Start with the program, not a national assumption
Study in NL states that admission requirements are set by the institution and can vary by program. Institutions may consult Nuffic when evaluating foreign diplomas.
Studielink is common—but check first
For most programs, applicants first register through Studielink, the official Dutch registration and application portal. Study in NL advises applicants to confirm the target institution's process because some international applications use a different route.
Watch selection deadlines
Some numerus-fixus or selective programs have earlier deadlines and additional selection steps.
Official resources
Admissions rules change. We use official sources as the starting point and verify requirements with the individual university or program.
